Human Trafficking, Prostitution & Malaysia!

The following is an excerpt from CIA – The World Fact Book website:

Trafficking in persons:

current situation: Malaysia is a destination and, to a lesser extent, a source and transit country for men and women trafficked for the purposes of sexual exploitation and forced labor; foreign victims, mostly women and girls from China, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam, are trafficked to Malaysia for commercial sexual exploitation; economic migrants from countries in the region who work as domestic servants or laborers in the construction and agricultural sectors face exploitative conditions in Malaysia that meet the definition of involuntary servitude; some Malaysian women, primarily of Chinese ethnicity, are trafficked abroad for sexual exploitation
tier rating: Tier 2 Watch List - Malaysia is placed on Tier 2 Watch List for its failure to provide evidence of increasing efforts to combat trafficking, particularly its failure to provide protection for victims of trafficking

Yes, that’s right folks. The above facts were last updated by Central Intelligence Agency on the 19th of June 2007 and they gave a very disturbing picture about our country, Malaysia. Let us take a look at the three main points here:

  1. Malaysia is internationally known as one of the world’s top destination in the lucrative human trafficking industry. Why are they sending male and female prostitutes to an Islamic country like Malaysia in the first place? Interesting, maybe we should just rename our current tourism campaign from Visit Malaysia 2007 to Prostitution Malaysia 2007. Malaysian on the lesser extent is also known as one of the world’s top hunting grounds to many human traffickers. I guess there are countries somewhere out there who are willing to pay top dollars for quality Malaysian men and women. Hmm... Very interesting... Malaysia is also quite well known internationally as one of the best transit country for the human trafficking industry. At last, KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) have reached stardom! :)
  2. We knew about this all too well. The only surprise is that the whole world also knew about the tales of our infamous ugly Malaysian employers and their abusive exploitations of foreign domestic servants or laborers. Inhumane abuses are common here, well in accordance with the spirit of Malaysia Boleh! (Malaysia Can!)
  3. This is what surprised me most today! Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Malaysia an Islamic country? Wasn’t it only a few months back when Malaysia modernizes and revolutionizes Islam further by introducing super hi-tech Islam Hadhari to the world? Human trafficking and prostitution are strictly prohibited in Islam but it seems that our Hadhari Islamic country is not doing enough to combat this sinful activities. Central Intelligence Agency is actually managed by the United States of America, a non-Islamic country. Isn’t it pathetic and highly embarrassing when a non-Islamic country stated that an Islamic country like Malaysia has failed to provide clear proof or evidence to the world that we are doing everything we can to combat human trafficking and prostitution? What is more interesting is that CIA highlighted our failure in providing protection to the victims of human trafficking and prostitution. :(

So Malaysian Malay women, would you like to be a part of this lucrative human trafficking business? If you are a true believer and follower of Islam, the answer would definitely be a big NO! But do you realize just how dangerous this whole thing is for Malaysian Malay women? Even as we speak, our Malay community and religious values are decaying beyond repair! Adulteries or pre-marital sexual relationships are prevalent and abortions are now all too common among Malaysian Malay teenagers. Our ruling government is apparently not doing enough to combat this problem that has plagued Malaysia even before her independence in 1957. I don’t think they would ever fight this to the very end. Prostitution is one of Malaysia’s top indirect economic contributors anyway. Can we really hope that this problem would one day be solved by the current ruling government? I seriously doubt it. :(

Can you even imagine how it would be like to see so many Malaysian Malay prostitutes inside fancy hotels or out on the streets and back alleys in the future? Malaysian Malays, women and men alike be warned! If we are not careful today, our future generations will face the consequences due to our very own ignorance!
